Signs and Symptoms:

Flu can vary in degrees of signs and symptoms. Here are som common symptoms of the flu:

  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Sore throat
  • Muscle pain/body aches
  • Fatigue
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Headaches
  • Vomiting/diarrhea

How the Flu Spreads:

The Flu viruses is mainly spread be small particles containing the viruse that are expelled when people sick with the illness talk, cough, or sneeze. These particles can land in the noses or mouths of people who are in close contact and possibly be inhaled into the lungs. The viruse can also be spread by people before they begin showing symptoms, people with very mild symptoms.

How Long Symptoms Appear After Exposure:

One or more days can pass between when a person becomes infected and when that person starts to experience symptoms.

Typically, a person with the flu experiences symptoms anywhere from 1 to 4 days after exposure

How Long Someone Can Spread the Virus:

People who have the flu are most contagious during the initial 3-4 days of their illness, but many people remain contagious for about 7 days. Infants and people with weakened immune systems can be contagious for even longer. Hospitalized people and those with weakened immune systems can be contagious for 20 days or even longer.
