Care Eleven is now licensed to recommend Medical Marijuana (MMJ) to our patients in New Orleans. Medical Marijuana is legal in the state of Louisiana and is an accessible and alternative form of medicine to our patients suffering with impairing health conditions. Consultation with our licensed healthcare provider is required to establish if your health condition qualifies for MMJ.

MMJ recommendations are good for 4 months. MMJ prescriptions are called “recommendations” and Care Eleven charges less than other clinics for MMJ recommendations to keep the service at a low cost for patients.

What is the cost of an MMJ appointment?2024-01-17T16:14:08-06:00

The cost for the 4-month MMJ recommendation is $60 + the cost of the office visit (based on the following insurance type)

  1. Patient Paying Out of Pocket will pay $100; which includes the cost for the office visit and the 4-month MMJ Recommendation.
  2. Medicaid patients will pay no cost for the office visit. Medicaid patients will pay a $60 fee for the 4-month Recommendation.
  3. Commercial insurance office visit fees will be based on eligibility and benefits. Commercial insurance patients will pay the $60 MMJ recommendation fee.
  4. Medicare patients will pay office visit fees that are based on eligibility and benefits + $60 as the cost of the 4-month MMJ recommendation.

Four-month MMJ recommendations are $60 and are not covered by public or private insurance.  Insurance does not cover the MMJ products themselves. Your insurance may cover a portion or all of the cost of the office visit required to receive an MMJ recommendation.

The state of Louisiana does not issue medical marijuana cards.  However, our practice may partner with specific MMJ pharmacies that issue cards for patients who use their pharmacy.

The different types MMJ delivery methods will be discussed during the patient consultation with our provider.  There are many options, but depending on the patient’s health needs, specific types of delivery products may be recommended.

There are a few MMJ Pharmacies to choose from. We have a list that we can review that offer Walk-in/Drive Thru/Delivery/Online Ordering options.
